If you are considering writing a book on a subject that we can support, then please feel free to contact us to see what we can do to help with the publication.
We can provide skilled and experienced editors, translators, illustrators and graphic designers. We can also advertise and market the book to help generate buzz before its publication and then to generate sales after it prints. Furthermore, we can handle the book distribution process through our Corsair's Wares outlets, online and in person at events.
We can offer very reasonable royalties, but at this time we cannot offer any advances for projects.
You do not need to be a member of the Academy of Historical Arts to work with Fallen Rook Publishing. We are happy to extend this programme to the community at large, to help anyone with a good project. If you have an idea for a project, and would like to discuss it with us, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
We would like to see some examples of good quality, relevant writing before we accept any proposal. This could be in the form of blog articles, journal articles, or other publications. If you do not have any published writing to your name, no matter how informal, then it may be a good idea to practise writing for an audience before taking on the project of a book.
In a similar fashion, we would like to see some evidence that prospective authors can undertake a project and see it through to completion. It is in our best interests that Fallen Rook projects are completed in a timely fashion, so we must ensure that prospective authors are able to complete projects rather than just starting them and abandoning them later. Such evidence could take the form of a series of blog articles, another published book, translation work, or indeed any project of reasonable size and complexity that has been seen through to completion.
For any AHA members who wish undertake a project with Fallen Rook, we recommend that you submit some guest articles to Encased in Steel, to familiarise yourself with writing for an audience, and to provide us with an example of your writing skills and your ability to undertake and complete a project such as a series of blog articles. Guest articles for Encased in Steel are not the only examples we will accept - we will happily accept other examples of your work, but this is a good target for many AHA members, especially instructors.
